Moe the Penguin is a Humboldt penguin who is the mascot for a jewelry company. When Moe was young, he lived with his parents and little brother, Orville. Now that Moe is grown, he lives with his “Boss Lady” from the jewelry company.

Moe is a fun loving penguin who likes to make others laugh. He is always willing to help his friends and never passes up a chance to throw fish at his boss lady’s dog.

While Moe may be a fictional character, his spirit and charm are very real. So even though you're not able to meet Moe in person, you are able to see other Humboldt penguins. Many zoos have Humboldt Penguins including the Saint Louis Zoo in MO, Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle WA and Denver Zoo in CO!

 

Some facts about Humboldt Penguins:

1) Many people think all penguins live in cold places like Antarctica (the South Pole). But only a few types of penguin live that far south.

2) Humboldt penguins are a part of the Spheniscidae family, which they share with other penguins.

3) They were named after naturalist Alexander von Humboldt, just like the chilly Humboldt Current that runs along their natural habitat.

4) They live on the shorelines of Peru and Chile.

5) They create nests in layers of dried guano (poop) left by seabirds!
